About The Aviation Academy at T. Wingate Andrews High School

The Aviation Academy offers students in grades 9-12 from across the district the opportunity to lean all things aviation. The aviation cluster is one of the fastest growing industries in the Trad - there are currently more than 20 aviation firms in the immediate vicinity of the Piedmont Triad International Airport that hire for many skills. Instruction at the Aviation Academy is inquiry-driven, technology-enhanced, and problem-based.

The Academy provides a jump start to a career in aviation by preparing students for college and giving them a head start on the technical training needed for certification by the Federal Aviation Administration by partnering with the Aviation Center of Guilford Technical Community College.
